It shifted authority from the judge to the prosecutor giving the state unjust leverage over an individual exercising their right to a fair trial. The sentencing judge cannot give a lesser sentence than that prescribed by M11, nor can the sentence be reduced for good behavior. Adults in Custody (AICs) cannot be paroled prior to serving their minimum sentence. TDNFTC’s mission is to provide equity and equality within the state correctional justice system for all AICs by focusing on reforming M11. Prison is NOT the answer to all crimes.
